Choosing a Penis Envy grow bag in the Netherlands

For a Penis Envy grow in the Netherlands, Dutch-Smart currently stocks one bag of the line itself, the APE Albino Penis Envy grow bag, and two cultures it presents as descendants of the family: Bluey Vuitton and Jack Frost. If you have never grown cubensis before, the shop's own texts point to B+ or Golden Teacher as the easier start. This guide sets them side by side, from forgiving to demanding.
Buying a grow bag is legal in the Netherlands; the mushrooms become illegal under the Opium Act as soon as they appear (Trimbos Institute, see the law page). The shop sells to adults only. Outside the Netherlands, the law of the country of delivery applies, and in the United Kingdom, Germany and under US federal law a kit that fruits produces an illegal drug. Start here if you have not grown before
B+ and Golden Teacher are the two cultures the APE strain card itself names as "beginner strains", against which Penis Envy grows slower and less predictably. Both come as the same 2,100 g ready-to-fruit bag, so the setup is identical and you learn the routine on a culture that tolerates mistakes.
The Penis Envy family
APE Albino Penis Envy. The only bag of the line itself. The shop describes white to cream fruits with thick stems, slower and more selective growth, fewer but more compact mushrooms, and the grow level as advanced. It is the bag featured across this site.
Bluey Vuitton. A modern hybrid of Panama and the Melmak branch of Penis Envy, according to the shop, with dense fruit bodies, grey-green to blue-green caps and strong blue bruising. Also marked advanced; it "sometimes develops more slowly than beginner strains".
Jack Frost. A microbox kit rather than a 2,100 g bag. The shop names the breeder as Dave Wombat and the parents as Albino Penis Envy and Wombat True Albino Teacher, with white to light blue caps. In the 2026 study, a Jack Frost culture had one of the lowest totals of the 14, which shows that a Penis Envy parent does not settle the question of strength.
How to choose
- First grow, or you want a reliable harvest: B+ or Golden Teacher.
- Some experience, and you want the white, thick-stemmed look: APE, with patience for a slower bag.
- You want the dense Penis Envy build with a different colour: Bluey Vuitton.
- You prefer a compact kit and a hybrid: Jack Frost.
Whatever you pick, plan for the portion question before the harvest, not after it. A culture marked very potent is a reason to weigh carefully.
Useful extras
A stable 23 to 27 °C and indirect light are the two conditions the bag manual stresses. Dutch-Smart sells a small grow light made for its kits, and a 0.01 g scale for weighing.
Before you order
- Set the bag up as soon as it arrives; if needed, keep it at 6 to 8 °C for a short time, never frozen.
- Read the grow bag manual from the shop before opening anything.
- Check the law page for your situation. Possessing the mushrooms is prohibited in the Netherlands too, even though the bag is legal to buy.
